Moody sets CFC goal, urges all to participate Published Sept. 23, 2013 By Senior Airman Jarrod Grammel 23d Wing Public Affairs MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga., -- The largest workplace charity, the Combined Federal Campaign is scheduled to kick off here Oct. 1 with the goal of raising $120,000 before its conclusion Dec. 1. Last year, Moody Airmen raised $109,890 for the Southwest Georgia CFC, adding to the more than $7 billion the program has raised since its creation in 1964. "The CFC is a federal donation program for federal employees that compiles certain charities," said U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Keith Terry, Moody CFC project officer. "The biggest thing is that it's a controlled environment, so there is no pressure from the workcenter itself to contribute. We do make sure that we make 100 percent contact, so everyone in an organization has an opportunity to donate." With more than 20,000 participating non-profit charities, the CFC gives prospective donors a variety of options to choose from. "Because of our diverse backgrounds, we all have different values," said Terry. "We can all look at these charities and see something that we're interested in and give back to them." People can give as little or as much as they want with either a one-time cash or check donation, or through payroll deduction. Last year, Moody fell just short of its goal, and this year the event organizers are urging every Airman to give even the smallest amount. "Payroll deduction is so simple," said Capt. Ron Maxfield, the other project officer for Moody. "If you figure $2.50 a month per Airman across the base, that would be $30,000 more than we raised last year. "I would argue that probably 95 percent of us could give $2.50, and we'd never miss it," he added. "I mean that's only a half a gallon of gas." Terry said their goal is to make it as easy as possible for people to donate. Each squadron has representatives who will provide information and donation forms. Their goal for this year is maximum participation. Terry said that of the 5,000 employees of Moody, only 645 people donated, but the base still came very close to the 2012 goal.
