347th Rescue Group

 

The 347th Rescue Group directs flying and maintenance of the oldest U.S. Air Force active duty operations group dedicated to personnel recovery. Members assigned to the 347th RQG are responsible for training/readiness of 540 personnel, including a Guardian Angel squadron, two flying squadrons (HC-130J/HH-60G) and an operations support squadron. The group also deploys worldwide in support of National Command Authority taskings. 

There are four squadrons aligned within the group. They are:

    38th Rescue Squadron

The 38th Rescue Squadron maintains combat-ready status as a Guardian Angel rescue squadron. This squadron trains, equips and employs combat rescue officers, pararescue, survival, evasion, resistance and escape (SERE) specialists and supporting personnel worldwide in support of U.S. national security interests and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Its members accomplish all five execution tasks of Personnel Recovery, specializing in survivor contact, treatment and extraction in denied, uncertain and hostile territories.

         41st Rescue Squadron

The 41st Rescue Squadron maintains combat-ready status as an HH-60G personnel recovery squadron. This squadron specializes in combat rescue of downed aircrews using night vision goggles (NVG), low-level formation, air refueling, and survivor recovery. Members assigned to this squadron rapidly mobilize, deploy and employ to provide combat and peacetime search and rescue in support of U.S. national security interests.

71st Rescue Squadron

The 71st Rescue Squadron maintains combat-ready status with 9 HC-130J aircraft. Provides rapidly deployable, expeditionary personnel recovery forces to theater commanders for contingency/crisis response operations worldwide. Specializes in the rescue of isolated personnel from austere, denied objectives using night vision goggle (NVG)/adverse weather low-level, airdrop, air land, helicopter air refueling (HAR), and forward area refueling point (FARP) operations.

     347th Operations Support Squadron

The 347th Operations Support Squadron enables all training and employment for the 347th Rescue Group's four combat-ready squadrons, (HC-130J/HH-60G/Guardian Angel). Directs operational support functions including, current operations, intelligence, training, weapons and tactics, aircrew flight equipment, simulation, medical, mobility, flying hour program management, and Host Aviation Resource Management. Supports 23d Fighter Group and tenant mobility training requirements. Implements contingency and theater war plans.
