Government shutdown to impact Moody Published Oct. 1, 2013 23d Wing Public Affairs MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga., -- As a result of Congress failing to approve a budget or continuing resolution, the government shut down Oct. 1. Military personnel on active duty and Department of Defense civilians who support excepted activities will continue working while civilians who support non-excepted activities will be placed on emergency no-notice and unpaid furlough. Military personnel will be expected to take up additional duties in the absence of furloughed civilians. The Child Development Center, Youth Programs and the base exchange will remain open. However, the commissary will be closed indefinitely starting Oct. 2. Access to medical care at Moody AFB is not currently affected by the government shutdown. The 23d Medical Group is currently operating with decreased staff and patients may encounter delays with some ancillary services. The HAWC will be closed until further notice. For medical emergencies requiring an ambulance, call 911 immediately. For any questions regarding healthcare services, please call 229-257-2778. "I want you to know that each and every member of Team Moody is important, regardless of their status under a furlough," said U.S. Air Force Col. Steven Ramer, 23d Wing vice commander. "This is extremely disruptive to the Air Force, but we anticipate this will be quickly resolved and pledge to do all we can to assist you and your families during this difficult time." More information will be posted as it becomes available on Moody's official website and the Moody Official Facebook page here.
