Commander's Support Sections around the base will consolidate offices to the Military Personnel Flight in the Parker Greene Base Support Center Nov. 26 to provide more efficient service to Moody Airmen.

Due to the Air Force's recent force-structuring initiatives, a lack of manpower existed for individual CSS services. An Air Force mandate was established to combine a base's CSS functions to a single location.

"Moody is combining CSS efforts in order to provide the necessary tools for Airmen to function," said 1st Lt. Mark Williams, 23rd Mission Support Squadron. "The consolidation will prevent empty CSS rooms during periods of deployments, leave and temporary duty travel. With a consolidated structure, there will always be someone to take care of your needs."

Due to their specialized nature, Lieutenant Williams also pointed out that certain units will not be part of the consolidation such as the 820th Security Forces Group, 336th Recruiting Squadron and the 23rd Medical Group.

"We expect there to be road-bumps along the way; no change in procedure of this magnitude comes without them," said Senior Master Sgt. Monica Potts, 23rd Mission Support Squadron Relocations superintendent. "However, the change will come together and benefit Team Moody in the long-run."

The CSS will still perform the same functions it always has; however, Airmen will need to go to Parker Greene Base Support Center to receive these services.

"The consolidation will bring all members of the old unit CSS's into one location," said Lieutenant Williams. "We will be located in the Military Personnel Flight offices of the wing headquarters building."

There will be a customer service desk where Airmen can see a CSS associate, he added. Appointments will not be required and a CSS representative will be available to assist Airmen as they come in.

"Airmen may feel this is an inconvenience for them at first," said Sergeant Potts. "However, we feel they will benefit from a single CSS location and come to appreciate the service we will be able to provide.

The base is modeling the consolidation after Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D.," she added. "They had great success with the endeavor, and we are hoping to match that success."

The scheduled hours of operations for the new CSS will be 6a.m.-6p.m., Monday-Friday, however, hours may be varied to meet Moody Airmen's needs.
