Staff assistance visits provide dress rehearsal for upcoming UCI Published June 16, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Frances Locquiao 23rd Wing Public Affairs MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The 23rd Wing Inspections office is scheduled to conduct staff assistance visits June 30-July 3 to help base personnel prepare for the upcoming Air Combat Command unit compliance inspection. The SAV involves 93 mock inspectors who will survey the base to see if Airmen are in compliance with the ACC standards, said Maj. David McCoy, 23rd WG Plans and Inspections chief. "This event will give the wing a taste of what it will be like when the ACC Inspector General arrives at Moody," said Major McCoy. "It will help us see where we stand and work on issues that have been overlooked." This year's UCI is scheduled to occur Aug. 17-22. During the week-long event, the SAV inspectors will carry the same checklist as the one that will be used during the UCI. There are approximately 1,600 core compliance objectives, which are specific tasks that will be looked at by the IG to determine if the wing operates in compliance with Air Force Instructions guidance. "This is basically a dress rehearsal," said Senior Master Sgt. David Smith, 23rd WG Plans and Inspections superintendent. "We want to show everyone what to expect so that our wing is well-prepared for the UCI." "Our goal is to ensure jobs are performed according to established guidelines and directives," said Sergeant Smith. The mock inspectors will consist mainly of senior NCOs with a high level of experience and expertise, he said. The results from the SAV will be compiled and provided to unit commanders so that any issues can be addressed and corrected prior to the formal inspection. "If you're in compliance, you have no worries," said Sergeant Smith. "It's not a matter of pass or fail; it's what we can do to help Airmen have a better process."
