The SPOT, a new community center at Moody, opened Sept. 9 offering a large assortment of activities for all of Team Moody to enjoy.

Facilities at the SPOT include two gaming rooms, karaoke room, internet café with Wi-Fi, a meeting room and even a laser maze. These amenities and more help make up the new community center.

"This facility is an important new aspect added to the base for all members of Moody," said Tara Morton, 23rd Force Support Squadron chief of community services flight. "With all the new Airmen that were added here after the BRAC realignment, a center like this was in high demand."

Construction of the SPOT began in spring 2010, and cost more than three million dollars. Funded by Base Realignment and Closure funding, the facility was built in hopes of creating one facility where all of Team Moody can come together to have fun.

"With this new addition to the building we wanted to not just have fun and games here," said Mrs. Morton. "We wanted a place where squadrons can come together and hold events or parties and build relationships together."

Another big change is the movement of the Information, Ticket and Tours (ITT) center which is now located inside the SPOT.

"This is a great place if you are new to base and looking to meet some people," said Airmen 1st Class Nicholas Hoyt, 23rd Civil Engineer Squadron structural apprentice. "After taking a look around here there are a lot of things people can do and participate in."

The SPOT is scheduled to be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
