MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The 23d Medical Group held a ribbon cutting ceremony in celebration of opening the ScriptCenter at the Moody Base Exchange (BX), Sept. 19, 2019.
“This is an exciting new edition, which streamlines our refill services and increases access for our beneficiaries,” said Col. Benjamin Conde, 23d Wing vice commander. “The ScriptCenter was acquired as part of the 2018 wing spark tank competition where Airmen proposed ideas to restore readiness,
cost-effectively modernize the mission and drive innovation. Bottom line--this is an exciting new edition, which was an idea generated by our airmen, for our Airmen and their families.”
The ScriptCenter is a machine that stores and dispenses various medications for customers.
“It will increase refill dispensing while also increasing main pharmacy dispensing services to the warfighters, family members and retirees at the initial point of service,” said Col. Tiffany Morgan, 23d Medical Group commander.
With the opening of the ScriptCenter, patients can retrieve refills Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Beneficiaries can pick up their medication using one of three security options: a user name and password, a fingerprint, or a military ID. Additionally, a family member or friend may retrieve medication for the beneficiary if they choose to share their user name and password or ID.
For additional support, staff members will be available until December to assist each patient in creating his or her profile to pick up their medication.
Currently, refrigerated items cannot be adequately stored in the ScriptCenter. Therefore, medications that require refrigeration, will still require retrieval at the main pharmacy.
“It is unusual to collect medicine from a vending machine, however, I assure you this is a good thing,” said Morgan. “We are excited to better serve our Moody teammates.
