CMSgt Skarloken is the Command Chief Master Sergeant of the 23d Wing. The 23d Wing is home to the legendary “Flying Tigers” and consists of five groups, with 21 squadrons comprised of more than 4,000 Airmen, over 700 civilian employees and 71 aircraft. He advises the Wing Commander and senior leadership on mission effectiveness, professional development, military readiness, training, utilization, health, morale and welfare of the command’s personnel and takes actions to address shortfalls or challenges.
Chief Skarloken was born and raised in Valley City, North Dakota and entered the Air Force in October of 1999 as a Defender. His background includes a myriad of Security Forces and Inspector General duties at the squadron and headquarters levels. He has also executed and managed Building Partner Capacity missions throughout Europe and Africa and deployed in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, FREEDOM'S SENTINEL, INHERENT RESOLVE, PROSPERITY GUARDIAN and SPARTAN SHIELD and NATO's RESOLUTE SUPPORT MISSION.
Prior to his current assignment, Chief Skarloken was the Command Chief Master Sergeant, 93d Air Ground Operations Wing, Moody AFB, Georgia.
