Airmen validate high frequency band capabilities
Tech. Sgt. Carlos Menendez, 824th Base Defense Squadron radio frequency transmission systems specialist, attempts to contact Moody Feb. 23, 2021, at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. During agile combat employment exercise Mosaic Tiger, Airmen assigned to the 23d Wing and 93d Air Ground Operations Wing set up an antenna to communicate with Moody via high-frequency radio waves. Utilizing the high-frequency range allows these Airmen to communicate across long distances without encountering vulnerabilities inherent to satellite communications such as malicious attacks or loss of service. Mosaic Tiger tested the 23d WG’s ability to integrate multi-capable Airmen into joint operations while maintaining a lighter footprint downrange. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Hayden Legg)
