AMU readies HC-130 for upgrade
Staff Sgt. George Lorr, 71st Aircraft Maintenance Unit crew chief, coordinates the alignment of shorings to associated fuselage stations during preparation of an HC-130J Combat King II for a situational awareness communication upgrade (SACU) modification Sept. 25, 2019, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. The shorings allow the aircraft to be put into a state of “no-loading”, where the pressure and weight of the aircraft will be reduced, allowing the modifications to be implemented without damage to the aircraft’s hull integrity. This SACU will enhance the aircraft’s ability to communicate with personnel on the ground during search and rescue operations. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Erick Requadt)
