Firefighters test rescue skills during Egress Training

Tech. Sgt. Garey Schmidt, right, 23d Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) firefighter station chief, explains the internal components of an HC-130J Combat King II following egress training, July 11, 2019, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. Firefighters conducted the training to evaluate their overall knowledge and proficiency of how to properly shut down and rescue personnel from a C-130 during an emergency situation. The training required the firefighters to properly enter and ventilate the aircraft while conducting swift rescue techniques to safely locate and remove passengers from the aircraft.
