23d CES lead the way during readiness training
Airmen from the 23d Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) convoy to the flightline during airfield recovery training, May 23, 2019, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. The training consisted of Airmen responding to a simulated bombed airfield to perform the proper steps and procedures to ensure rapid airfield damage repair. The training prepared the Airmen for potential threats that they could face while downrange. “Air Force civil engineers are responsible to establish, maintain, protect and recover installations so we can project combat airpower and carry out our nation’s business,” said Lt. Col. Michael Francis, 23d CES commander. “If an airfield is damaged by enemy forces, it’s our job to get that airfield operational as quickly as possible.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Erick Requadt)
