“Flying Tiger Oak” joins Live Oak Society

Donald Davis, Lowndes County Historical Museum executive director, talks about the partnership and legacy of the Team Moody and local communities’ bond during “Flying Tiger Oak’s” induction ceremony into the Live Oak Society, April 28, 2017, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. This tree is one of approximately 8,300 nationally registered live oaks across 14 states, known for its prestigious tradition, location and size. Dr. Lucy Greene, Moody Support Committee executive director, reached out to community leaders about getting the tree recognized, which was accepted for its significance of pre-dating Moody AFB and being symbolic of the communities’ bond.
