Beat the heat

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Bryana Hodge, 23d Aerospace Medicine Squadron bioenvironmental engineering journeyman, checks the weather conditions on an environmental thermal monitor, June 2, 2016, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. The monitor is a part of the base’s heat index tracking efforts, which calculates the weather condition’s temperature, solar radiation, relative humidity and wind speed, through four flag conditions. The color coded flag conditions detail gradual heat stages that determine proper work-rest cycles and water consumption to avoid getting heat illnesses.
