23d Wing Public Affairs
“Being Command Post you see everything that happens. The first 10 minutes after an incident are the most chaotic -- we’re busy calling and notifying everyone to get the ball rolling. You get to see so much more than the average Airmen. Even as a young Airman – I see the bigger picture. Every incident that happens comes across this desk. I love how involved in the mission we are specifically with search and rescues. We are the initial notification and precoordination that ends in a life being saved. I remember the first search and rescue I helped coordinate – from here I helped save a life in Utah. In the two years I’ve been at Moody, a lot of interesting things have happened. It is just a great feeling of mission accomplishment ... It’s just awesome.” (Senior Airman William Ferris, Command Post controller from the 23d Wing)
