Staff Sgt. Monica France talks to a CrossFit student about their fitness regimen in the Red Tail Fitness Center at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, Oct. 30. Faced with a possible medical discharge from the Air Force, France discovered the program, which not only saved her career but improved her overall health. France is a personnel journeyman with the 332nd Expeditionary Security Forces Group who instructs the class on her free time. France is a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., deployed from the 820th Security Forces Group at Moody Air Force Base, Ga.
