GULF OF MEXICO -- An HH-60G Pave Hawk from the 41st Rescue Squadron out of Moody Air Force Base, Ga., picks up a 38th Rescue Squadron pararescueman and a survivor off a ship approximately 260 miles south of New Orleans, La., during a rescue mission April 25. Responding to a request for support from the U.S. Coast Guard, two HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters and a 71st Rescue Squadron HC-130P King performed a 10-hour mission to retrieve a boatload of stranded immigrants in distress that had been picked up by a passing ship. Individuals worldwide are encouraged to promote online safety as a part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Cyber security is defending the confidentiality, integrity, availability and accountability of the information on networks. No one is immune to cyberattacks and as service members; it’s our duty to practice proper cyber safety measures both on and off-duty. Ways to accomplish this are by keeping updated security software, protecting personal information, creating strong passwords and deleting suspicious emails, social network posts and text messages received. As stated by U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. William J. Bender, chief of information dominance and chief information officer, we must continue to adopt and promote a culture of cyber security. Bender added that using this month is an opportune time to practice proper cyber security measures now and beyond to continue efforts in defending the nation in every domain.
