Jason Medsger, 820th Combat Operations Squadron officer in charge of operations, explains the significance of the Airman 1st Class Leebernard Chavis Memorial located outside of the military operations in urban terrain training village to Maj. Gen. William Holland, commander of the 9th Air Force, Air Combat Command, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Dec. 7. The memorial is dedicated to Airman Chavis, who was a member of the 824th Security Forces Squadron. He was killed in action in Iraq in 2006, while performing duties as a turret gunner with his security forces' team on a joint patrol with the Iraqi police.
