Weather safety
MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- According to Air Force Occupational Safety and Health Standard 91-501, all members should seek shelter when the “lightning within five nautical miles” announcement is made, unless it is absolutely necessary to stay outside. The average lightning bolt is between six and eight miles long, so members need to be cautious when outside because lightning could be present even before any kind of notification.
