Exceptional pilot award
MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Capt. Wayne Dirkes, Naval Test Pilot School student, receives the 2009 Exceptional Pilot Award from retired Lt. Gen. Steve Polk, Order of the Daedalians national commander, here July 16.The award is presented annually to a pilot selected by each of the five military branches. Selection for this award is based on exceptional deeds performed to assure mission success, acts of valor as an aviator, or an extraordinary display of courage or leadership in the air in support of an air operation.
