MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga.-- Firefighters from the 23rd Civil Engineer Squadron are going out of their way to volunteer at local fire stations during their time off to help support the local community. The 23rd CES firefighters work 24-hour shifts on an every other day rotation, averaging around 56 hours a week. Individuals worldwide are encouraged to promote online safety as a part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Cyber security is defending the confidentiality, integrity, availability and accountability of the information on networks. No one is immune to cyberattacks and as service members; it’s our duty to practice proper cyber safety measures both on and off-duty. Ways to accomplish this are by keeping updated security software, protecting personal information, creating strong passwords and deleting suspicious emails, social network posts and text messages received. As stated by U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. William J. Bender, chief of information dominance and chief information officer, we must continue to adopt and promote a culture of cyber security. Bender added that using this month is an opportune time to practice proper cyber security measures now and beyond to continue efforts in defending the nation in every domain.
