Military Justice spotlight: Article 15s and civil arrests for March

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, GA. -- The following information is a summary of nonjudicial punishments given by commanders under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice in March. The punishments are determined based on the individual facts and circumstances of each case.

An airman 1st class from the 23rd Force Support Squadron was absent without leave for one day and also missed a mandatory physical training appointment. The airman 1st class received a reduction to airman, suspended forfeitures of $250 pay per month for two months, 45 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A senior airman from the 822nd Base Defense Squadron was absent without leave for less than a day and failed to obey an order by not staying in their dorm while on quarters. The senior airman received a reduction to airman first class and a reprimand.

The Military Justice team would like to spotlight the 822nd BDS for their speedy and efficient processing of all nonjudicial punishment actions in March. We appreciate the outstanding hard work of Lt. Col. Joseph D'Amico and Master Sgt. Ronald Nitke, 822nd BDS commander and first sergeant.


The following information is a summary of civil arrests of Airmen stationed at Moody Air Force Base.

A staff sergeant from the 23rd Security Forces Squadron was arrested by the Valdosta Police Department March 4 for theft by receiving.

An airman first class from the 23rd Security Forces Squadron was arrested by the Orange County, Fla., Sheriff's Department March 7 for aggravated battery, trespassing after notice, disorderly intoxication and resisting without violence.

An airman from the 23rd Component Maintenance Squadron was arrested by the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office March 12 for speeding, reckless driving, and driving with a suspended license.

A staff sergeant from 41st Rescue Squadron was arrested by the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office March 17 for speeding and driving without a license.

A senior airman from the 824th Base Defense Squadron was arrested by Port Wentworth Police Department 21 March 2011 for DUI.

An airman first class from the 23rd Operations Support Squadron was arrested by the Lanier County Sheriff's Office on March 26 for speeding, reckless driving, and fleeing/evading.

A senior airman from 23rd Logistics Readiness Squadron was arrested by the Valdosta Police Department on March 30 for reckless conduct, disobeying a police officer and discharging a firearm while intoxicated.

A senior airman from 23rd Logistics Readiness Squadron was apprehended on base March 2 for an Article 128, assault.
