AFRC to host End of Summer Bash Published July 26, 2016 23d Wing Public Affairs MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- With the end of summer vacation rapidly approaching and children of all ages gearing up for the new school year, the Airman and Family Readiness Center is wrapping up the season with one final hurrah. The AFRC is slated to host its End of Summer Bash, a free carnival-style event for Moody Airmen and families, July 29, 4-8 p.m., here. The AFRC expects more than 800 people to show for what is scheduled to be Moody’s biggest summer bash yet. “The bash is a time to get Moody members and families together to show our appreciation for what they do every day and the support that they provide to get the mission accomplished,” said U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Lysandra Anderson, 23d Force Support Squadron NCO in charge of readiness. “We want to give back and show everyone a good time.” The event will offer free food and include more than 15 activities such as: an animal show, pony rides, a magic show and several inflatable activities. “From slip and slides and bounce houses to video games and challenge courses, anyone, young or old, will have fun,” said Dawn Coleman, 23d FSS deputy. “We have something to offer for everybody.” In addition to the many carnival activities, a pool party will begin at 5 p.m. with a race between commanders and an obstacle course above the water for anyone to try. “Colonel [Thomas] Kunkel, [23d Wing commander], is going to kick off the pool party with a race across the base pool on a water wheel,” said Coleman. “He has challenged the group commanders to come out and try to beat his time.” In the case of bad weather, the pool party will be cancelled but the carnival games and festivities will be moved into the fitness center. “The celebration will continue through rain or shine,” said Coleman. “I encourage everyone to come out, take advantage of all the different things that are going on and have a really good time. I think it will be fun for all.” For any questions regarding the event, call the AFRC at (229) 257-3333.
