MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The Moody Air Force Base Thrift Shop awarded scholarships to nine individuals on April 24, at the Heritage Hall, here.
The Thrift Shop is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide eligible personnel the opportunity to buy and sell used property. All proceeds go directly to Airmen and dependents of Team Moody through charitable endeavors.
Due to the prolific year they’ve had, the Thrift Shop was able to award $7,000 in scholarships to capable applicants. In addition to high school seniors, this year’s scholarships were open to military spouses as well.
Applicants were judged on the whole person concept, listing their work, time spent volunteering, participation in groups or clubs and, of course, their school grades and future plans.
Dr. Lucy Green and her team from the Lowndes/Valdosta Retired Educators Association took on the task of selecting the few recipients for the various categories.
