Team Moody is participating in the nationwide challenge of providing environmental protection for Earth Day, April 22.

The Air Force’s flagship Earth Day theme, “Conserve Today, Secure Tomorrow,” continues to be the focus in 2016 while targeting to obtain “cleaner, greener installations” by emphasizing energy and water conservation.

“We celebrate by doing special things like cleaning up, planting flowers, and promoting recycling,” said Elvis Lane, 23d Civil Engineer Squadron environmental specialist. “Most importantly, we want to promote a healthy and safe environment for all of us to live in today and for our future generations to come.”

To accomplish this, the 23d CES environmental specialists will have a booth at the Base Exchange and will also visit the Youth Center, Child Development Center and a local elementary school to promote the initiative.

According to Lane, Moody performs healthy and safe environmental practices utilizing the Environmental Management system.

“The Environmental Management system is based on the cradle to the grave concept of what we do every day with the things we use, such as: paper, plastic, cardboard, metal, trash, chemicals, hazardous waste, drinking water, waste water, and air quality,” said Lane. “[Conserving these resources] is a key part in our taking care of the earth we live on and being good stewards of what we have as a wing.”

Lane encourages members to do their part this Earth Day and contribute to enhancing the environment in some form.
