For married clients, there is a "Moody Special" Power of Attorney that includes 15 different items, including ID cards, taxes and finances, which are typically needed by a person when the spouse deploys. For the Moody Special POA, customers may come into the office during walk-in hours. A worksheet and ticket number from the website is not needed. For all other powers of attorney, see the instructions below and have your ticket number ready when you arrive. General Legal Assistance: Appointments for general legal assistance are available Tuesdays, 9 to 11 a.m., 1 to 3 p.m., and Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Legal Assistance information is also available at the Air Force Legal Assistance Webpage, https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil/, and may be a good starting point before scheduling an appointment with an attorney. Will Appointments: Appointments for wills are available on Friday mornings, from 9 a.m.to 11. Deploying Active Duty members will be given preference for appointments and scheduled as needed. For a Will or Power of Attorney: Visit https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil and fill out a worksheet for the document you wish to have created. Once complete, save your ticket number and call the legal office at 229-257-3414 to schedule an appointment. 6% Interest Cap for Servicemembers on Certain Debts Do you have debt incurred before you became a service member? Under the Servicemembers' Civil Service Relief Act of 1997 (SCRA), military members can request creditors reduce interest rates to 6 percent on "unsecured" debts. Unsecured debts are ones that are not secured by a lien or specific assets and include credit card debt, student loans and personal loans. This interest cap can make a huge difference in the long run, especially on high-interest credit cards. To schedule a legal assistance appointment to discuss whether your debt qualifies and for help drafting a request letter to send to your creditors, call 229-257-3414 to schedule an appointment.
