Thespians present Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon Published Feb. 18, 2016 By Airman 1st Class Janiqua P. Robinson 23d Wing Public Affairs MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Team Moody will get an opportunity to relive some of their favorite childhood fairytales, with a twist, as the base Thespian Club is slated to perform a play March 2-3. The Thespian Club will perform "The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon" at the Moody Field Club starting March 2 at 6 p.m., and the Hoffman Auditorium on March 3 at 6:30 p.m. free of charge. "[The play] is basically a compilation of fairytales we all knew growing up," said U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Shannon Winthrop, 23d Comptroller Squadron network administrator. "Like 'Little Red Riding Hood', 'Snow White', and 'Cinderella', but the Grimm Brothers were known to tell dark versions of the stories. This play is just as goofy as the Brother Grimm stories were dark, so [there's] a fun twist." "The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon" is the Thespian Club's first production and will be performed by volunteer actors and actresses from various units on base who were cast in December 2015. "[The club] is on base so it's convenient and I thought it'd be cool to work with other Airmen that have the same sort of drive, focus and enthusiasm for acting," said Airman 1st Class Elisheba Coughenour, 23d Medical Support Squadron commander support staff. "I love acting and I feel at home on the stage." Cast members formed the club as part of the new initiative for Moody to have a variety of clubs that Airmen can join to meet people with similar interests. "I hope that this club helps people meet others who [enjoy] the same things, so they have a better time while they're at this base," said Winthrop. The Thespian Club will also perform at the Valdosta Playhouse on February 27 for an admission fee.
