MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. – Tech. Sgt. Jefory Adrian Smith, an Airman assigned to the 23d Force Support Squadron, was pronounced dead at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, Jan. 7, 2026, at 4:57 p.m.
“It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of Tech. Sgt. Jefory Smith,” said Maj Muddamalle, 23d Force Support Squadron commander. “Adrian was a source of light wherever he went. He livened every room he was in and brought a smile to whoever spoke with him. He was a leader, and a vital member of our squadron whose positive spirit was a constant source of motivation. TSgt Smith made a lasting impact on all of us, especially our Honor Guard Community. Our deepest condolences are with his family, friends, and all who knew him. We will honor his memory and focus on supporting one another through this tremendous loss. We will continue to serve with the strength and camaraderie that he embodied.”
Chapel and mental health services are ready and available for anyone affected by the incident.
The cause of death is under investigation.
