MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- In preparation for Hurricane Ian, Moody Air Force Base will be taking measures to ensure personnel are safe and aircraft remain sheltered and secure during potential destructive winds and rainfall.
All aircraft currently stationed at Moody AFB will be tied down or sheltered in hangars, and personnel will be limited to mission essential only Sept. 29 – 30. All base facilities will be closed during this time to include AAFES and Defense Commissary facilities.
Additionally, Moody AFB will serve as a base support installation for Hurricane Ian recovery operations, housing more than 100 additional personnel for approximately seven days.
Airmen and their families are highly encouraged to prepare their homes and secure any outdoor furniture or equipment that could become hazardous in the event of strong winds.
