The Georgia Pines Dining Facility reopened Friday after recent renovations to improve
the quality of service.

Costing $36,000 plus 387 work hours for the renovations, the updated facility offers a modern area for Team Moody members to enjoy their food with increased comfort.

"The quality of food Airmen receive from this dining facility is extremely high, as it has always been," said Master Sgt. Randy Fernald, 347th Services Squadron dining facility manager. "These renovations provide an atmosphere as good as the food."

The changes in the dining facility have been in progress for roughly 60 days. What began as a small paint job on the walls snowballed into rooms painted with sports and outdoor themes, pressure-washed sidewalks, new landscaping and an improved kitchen.

The building was not only repainted on the inside, but also on the outside as well. The kitchen received improved heating, ceiling, ventilation, air conditioning systems and lighting that will benefit Team Moody members eating in the facility as well as the staff.

"With the updates in the kitchen, our employees will benefit by being more comfortable, able to see better and have better temperatures to work in," said Sergeant Fernald.

All of the changes create a relaxing atmosphere for the Airmen, said Chief Master Sgt. Michael Mazzi, 347th Rescue Wing command chief.

"This is a quality of life investment for our Airmen," he said. "It gives them a better place to eat, relax, get focused for the day or wind down after duty."

While enjoying the food and fellowship with others, Team Moody members are also able to access free wireless Internet. The wireless connection reaches throughout the entire facility so Airmen are able to check their e-mail or surf the Web during lunch or when off duty.

"I think all of the changes have definitely made the dining hall more aesthetically appealing," said Airman Austin Toothaker, 347th Maintenance Squadron.

Leadership at Moody, along the 347th Civil Engineer Squadron, initiated the renovations and made sure it was continually moving in the right direction.

"These renovations will show the Airmen we care about them," said Sergeant Fernald. "The leadership on this base saw a problem and made all these changes happen."

Teamwork ensured Moody Airmen now have a comfortable place to eat with an improved atmosphere.

"These renovations are a great morale boost," said Airman 1st Class Paul Smith, 347th Communications Squadron. "It's good to know the leadership cares about our dining hall experience."
