The Moody Medical Clinic recently began renovations to provide customers with a more comfortable experience when receiving health-care.

The Air Force awarded a $1.31 million reprieve to the 23rd Medical Group to revamp common areas, corridors, reception areas and pharmacy windows.

"Our design-goal is to provide a pleasing environment that will build competency of care upon arrival," said Terry Haney, 23rd MDG facility manager. "We are looking forward to a change in atmosphere that will provide patrons with a warmer, friendlier ambiance."

During the last renovation in 2002, the clinic was converted from an in-patient hospital to an out-patient clinic, added Mr. Haney. In order to get the project within budget the 23rd MDG had to cut out a lot of the aesthetic elements.

The current revamp is the 23rd MDG's solution to those cuts.

"Not only will the new and improved clinic be more comfortable but easier to navigate," said Mr. Haney. "Each section will be color coordinated so customers will always know where they are."

The color-coordination comes along with a new sign system that will eliminate much of the confusion that servicemembers and dependents incur when visiting the clinic.

Mr. Haney also mentioned the renovation will occur in five different phases that will last approximately 60 days, making the overall project last about 300 days.

"Each phase will take place in a different area," said Mr. Haney. "By doing this we eliminate any type of confusion that will be caused by work being done in multiple areas."

Throughout the different phases, customers will notice certain areas missing tiles or lighting, added Mr. Haney. The biggest inconvenience, patrons will incur however, is the closing of one of the clinics entrances during the final phase.

Mr. Haney said despite the renovations the renovations, Team Moody memberswill enjoy the same care and treatment they've received since the clinic was first established.

Since contractors will be working during the evenings, the clinic will maintain the same hours of 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

"We're looking forward to the process and providing patrons with a calm, soothing and healing atmosphere," said Mr. Haney. "After all is said and done, the clinic will become an even greater place to receive healthcare."
