Outdoor pool provides relief from summer heat Published May 30, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Frances Locquiao 23rd Wing Public Affairs MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- As outdoor tempartures start to soar, Moody members can beat the heat by cooling off at the base's outdoor pool. The pool is open for the summer to provide Airmen a place to relax and enjoy the sun, said Mandi Rice, 23rd Force Support Squadron aquatics manager. The 25-meter pool has depths from 4 feet to 10 feet for all swimming levels. "It boasts one of the largest water slides in the Air Force," said Ms. Rice. "The newly installed slide is a gel coated fiberglass slide, which allows riders to fly down its three loops." The deep end of the pool offers a one-meter springboard. A separate pool is also available for children under six years of age. Pool passes are for sale at the aquatics office next to the pool from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Season passes are available for $30. The daily rate is $2 for cardholders and $3 for guests. Club members and Airmen with the rank of E-4 and below receive a discount on season passes. Swim lessons are also available for $40 per person for four sessions, ages 6 months to adult. "It's going to be a great time," said Ms. Rice. "Come and have fun by the pool."
