The Combined Federal Campaign is set to kick off here Oct. 27, where Airmen can donate money to more than 2,500 charities.

The CFC is hosted annually and gives Airman the opportunity to either donate to the CFC, which would evenly distribute the contribution between all the charities, or pick certain charities within the campaign to give all of their proceeds to.

"Our goal is to raise $90,000 as a base," said Senior Master Sgt. Darrell Cook, 23rd Communications Squadron superintendent of policy and evaluations. "But I'm positive the Airmen of Moody can blow that goal out of the water."

Sergeant Cook pointed out that if an Airman gave $10 per month, that the money could provide immunizations for almost 1,000 children in developing countries or save five severely malnourished children with nutritional feeding kits.

Airman may choose to give their donation in one lump sum or setup a payroll deduction where the CFC can collect a designated amount of money each paycheck.

"We really just want the Airmen to know that any donation amount really does make a difference," said Sergeant Cook, who is heading up this years CFC campaign at Moody.

In addition to the normal CFC fundraising efforts, Maj. Sheri Webb, 23rd Medical Group health care integrator, will donate a quilt to be raffled off at the end of the campaign.

For every $10 donation Moody members make to a cancer-related charity, their names will be entered into a random drawing to win a breast cancer awareness quilt.

"I began making quilt's for the CFC and cancer awareness four years ago when I was stationed at Minot AFB, N.D.," said Major Webb. "Not only will Airmen be giving to a good cause, but they might walk away with a quilt."

Throughout the next few weeks, unit representatives will begin contacting the 10-15 Airmen they are responsible for to help them decide how they would like to donate and which charities they may be interested in.

"We are currently planning a number of base events to coincide with the CFC to help raise awareness and money," said Sergeant Cook. "It's a great way to give back to the communities that support us."

Presently, a golf tournament is scheduled on Nov. 7 at the Moody Quiet Pines Golf Course, where all proceeds will go to the CFC.
