Moody to celebrate holiday season with tree lighting ceremony Published Nov. 20, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Spencer Gallien 23rd Wing Public Affairs MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- As the holiday season approaches, Moody will celebrate it's arrival by hosting a tree lighting ceremony and parade beginning at the 23rd Medical Group starting at 4:50 p.m. Dec. 5. In addition, there will be carolers, an artificial snow storm, a nativity scene, free refreshments and a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Clause. The parade will include floats representing several base and community agencies. Col. Kenneth Todorov, 23rd Wing commander, will officiate over the tree lighting ceremony. The ceremony also marks a special time for spouses with deployed husbands and wives. "We are going to have a yellow ribbon ceremony this year," said Angel Brown, 23rd FSS community programmer. "It gives a chance for everyone with deployed loved ones to recognize the service and commitment they have for their country and remember them during the holiday season." There will also be children's games available during the festive event. Mrs. Brown says she attributes the success of the tree lighting ceremony and special events to the coordination to the participating groups on base. "Everyone on base really makes this function come together--from the 23rd Civil Engineering Squadron to the base Honor Guard," said Mrs. Brown. "Basically, the community jumps at the chance to give back to the servicemembers who protect us."
