The Health and Wellness Center and Fitness Center kick off March's Nutrition Month with a challenge, for Moody Airmen and family members to 'Lose 600 Pounds in 60 Days.'

Registration for the weight-loss incentive program is available at both the Fitness Center and the HAWC and runs through Feb. 27. The weight-loss challenge is scheduled to begin March 2 and continue through April 30.

To help participants move along their weight-loss journey, the HAWC is offering classes that meet at various times throughout the month.

"Our Lean Program classes will meet each Monday," said Sergeant Montgomery. "It will focus on exercise techniques, behavior modifications and nutrition tips.

"They will be held in a support-group setting, because people are more likely to continue a program if they are with like-minded people who have the same goal. Those who work out in groups are more likely to be motivated and continue with the positive changes they've incorporated into their lifestyles."

For those who can't commit to the weekly classes, there are other alternatives such as the Exercise for Life or Eating on the Run classes, which are geared towards providing the most useful and beneficial information available in a shorter amount of time.

There are also incentives prizes for those who lose weight, said Tech. Sgt. Chelsea Montgomery, HAWC NCO in-charge of health promotions. "Each week, we'll reward those who have shown progress during their weigh-ins by giving them items that will help them continue on and complete the program."

For support while getting in shape, participants are encouraged to help each other or contact the HAWC or Fitness Center staff when they are in need of help or motivation.

"I encourage everybody to sign up," said Sergeant Montgomery. "It can be a real eye-opener to what services we offer as well as how motivated people can get to make positive changes."
