Housing residents scheduled to move into Magnolia Grove in June Published May 21, 2009 By Naomi Hendricks The Landings at Moody community director VALDOSTA, Ga. -- HP Communities LLC hit the ground running when they arrived at Moody Air Force Base in November 2008, starting with construction in the Magnolia Grove subdivision and renovations and enhancements in Quiet Pines. In just six months, The Landings at Moody has seen vast improvements, with new homes standing at the ready and renovation projects in full swing. "I am excited to see the progress at Magnolia Grove and Quiet Pines. The work will benefit our Airmen and their families, which is one of my top priorities." said Col. Kenneth Todorov, 23rd Wing commander. The goal for Magnolia Grove is to bring 50 homes online, of which 25 are scheduled to be ready for occupancy by the end of June. As of May 15, 15 homes have been completed, and inspected and approved by a third party inspector. Once these homes and the infrastructure work are inspected and approved by Lowndes County, the county certificates of occupancy will be submitted to the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment for final approval. Once approval is received the homes will be ready for occupancy by military families. "Preparation is already underway to move 50 families into the new homes at Magnolia Grove. The additional capacity comes just in time for the summer move season, providing Moody Airmen a great chance to move right into our privatized housing," Col Todorov added. HPC plans to begin moving the first 15 families into Magnolia Grove by the second week of June. On May 15, HPC gave Magnolia Grove's future residents a highly anticipated opportunity to walk through and view the new homes. The Landings at Moody team held a meeting for the families so they could complete paperwork and schedule move-ins so that their move-in day would run smoothly. In the Quiet Pines subdivision construction continues on replacing roofs, windows and air conditioning systems on approximately 206 duplex homes. Work began in March and is progressing on schedule. The goal of these renovations is to ensure long-term quality of the homes and to provide more efficient energy conservation. All of this work is being done while the homes are occupied. Successful completion of these renovations is based largely on continued communications between on-site management and residents and continued outstanding resident cooperation. There are 94 townhomes in Quiet Pines that are receiving a face lift during the renovation process. The Landings at Moody maintenance staff are working with various local contractors and conducting much of the work in-house in an upgrade effort. The enhancements consist of freshly painted white walls, new carpet and vinyl downstairs; a complete set of new kitchen appliances; refinishing of the cabinets in kitchen and bathrooms, bathtubs, and wood floors upstairs; and replacing sliding glass doors with French doors. The HPC team is also working on making some necessary repairs to the sewer line in Bird and Dewberry Courts.
