Several Moody units were recently inspected by the Air Combat Command Logistics Standardization and Evaluation Team.

During the four-day inspection, the 23rd Maintenance Group and 23rd Logistics Readiness Squadron received an overall satisfactory rating based on compliance with maintenance practices, sustained logistics support and supply chain management policy.

"The very successful efforts by our maintenance and logistics teams prove to ACC that the 23rd WG can provide safe and reliable equipment and parts to execute our missions at home and around the world," said Col. Gary Henderson, 23rd Wing commander. "The rating they received is commendable. Both the 23rd MXG and LRS put in tremendous efforts.

"Every inspection, to include the upcoming operational readiness inspection, gives us an opportunity to hone our skills and improve our game," he added. "When we train like we fight, we end up better in the end."

The LSET inspections, which are conducted every two years, are intended to validate the efficiency and effectiveness of Moody's maintenance and logistics operations.

"The evaluation team not only looks for compliance of regulations, but they also look for the best practices and programs," said Major Robert Henderson, 23rd LRS operations officer. "They are here to provide assistance and advice to improve our processes and programs."

To prepare for the team's arrival, many of the units performed self-inspections.

"It was important for us to find time to ensure we are up to speed on our compliance of day-to-day operations," said Major Henderson. "Though it was a real challenge preparing for the LSET because of operational readiness exercises and real-world deployments, we were able to identify and fix certain areas before the inspection."

More than 135 Moody Airmen and civilians were recognized in the team's "honor roll." The 23rd Component Maintenance Squadron earned an outstanding rating and the 723rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron earned an excellent rating.

"By taking time to follow the provided guidance the first time and watching out for our wingman, we are preparing for future successes," said Colonel Henderson. "When we occasionally step back to look at the process on how to accomplish a task with a critical eye, we can improve our knowledge and provide recommendations on how to make things better."

The final inspection report is expected to be published and available on the Internet in approximately 30 days.

"We appreciate the team's efforts to provide feedback because it will make our units better in the long run," said Major Henderson. "Every Airman did an amazing job showing how well they carry out their duties and following Air Force guidance."
