Moody's Retiree Appreciation Week kicked off Nov. 1 and will run through Nov. 7 to thank retired servicemembers for everything they did for their country.

This week, which has occurred annually since 1998, is set aside to recognize those who have served, and to let all retirees know that even though their service has ended, they are still appreciated.

"This week is an opportunity for Airmen to let veterans know they still play an integral role in the military and will always be a part of the Air Force family," said retired Chief Master Sgt. Jimmy Ingram, 23rd Wing retiree affairs office director. "It's really gratifying to give back to these men and women who gave so much to the Air Force. Their hard work hasn't gone unnoticed."

An Appreciation Day will conclude the week and is scheduled to begin with sign-in at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at Freedom I Fitness Center. The day will feature informational briefings, a health and information fair and a flag-folding ceremony by the base Honor Guard. There will also be static displays of current Moody aircraft, a military working dog demonstration and an up-armored Humvee.

"We're very excited for this year's celebration and have enjoyed putting the effort and time into it," Mr. Ingram said. "We have a great week lined up for retirees and hope this will be as big a success as it was in past years."

The week kicked off with specials available around base, at agencies including the Commissary, Moody Field Club, Bowling Center, Golf Course and Skills Development Center.

More than 600 retirees have attended past years' appreciation days, with even more retirees than that being helped throughout the week by the available discounts.
