Effective Dec. 28, the Georgia Pines Dining Facility will close its doors for approximately 50 days while the 23rd Force Support Squadron upgrades the building and its equipment.

The facility will close after the midnight meal on Dec. 27, with renovations beginning the next day. During the closure, the DFAC will receive more than $240,000 of upgrades including new walk-in refrigerators, a fire suppression system and televisions for the dining area.

"The upgrades will improve the building as well as food sanitation and fire safety measures," said Tammy Turnmeyer, 23rd FSS Sustainment Services flight chief. "Although many of the upgrades will be behind the scenes, they will help the dining facility staff perform their jobs more efficiently and effectively."

Airmen, who currently do not receive Basic Allowance for Subsistence, will automatically begin receiving BAS in their Jan. 15th paycheck and BAS will continue until the DFAC re-opens.

"As we prepare the 23rd FSS and more specifically the DFAC to better serve the Airmen of Moody, we'd like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we improve our overall operations," said Mrs. Turnmeyer.
