Air Combat Command has recently announced its 2009 medical group awards, and several individuals from Moody were listed among the winners.

Eight Airmen and a team of 20 from the 23rd Medical Group and 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing placed in nine categories and went on to compete at the Air Force level.

Although individuals were named as winners, success in the medical field comes from a collaborative effort of all involved.

"I am incredibly proud of each and every one of our ACC award winners, as they have done an absolutely superb job during the past year," said Col. Mark Koppen, 23rd MDG commander. "They have excelled in daily patient care for our tens of thousands of patients, multiple operational readiness exercises and in helping to successfully deploy hundreds of Moody Airmen."

"These individuals are clearly the best of the best and I know that each of them would be the first to tell you that without a tremendous team effort from our entire medical staff, earning these major command-level awards would be even more difficult," he added. "The medical career field is incredibly complex and each patient or deployer's care is optimized through the dedication and hard work of a web of individuals who work extremely well together to accomplish the mission."

In addition to the individuals who won awards, there was also a group of 20 named as the Clinical Optimization Team (COT) of the Year.

"The goal of the COT is to improve access to medical appointments and enhance the overall patient experience when they get their care from the 23rd MDG," said Capt. Bradley Meyer, 23rd Medical Operations Squadron primary care element chief. "There are three components to a COT: nurses, medical providers and technicians.

"Our team takes great pride in our mission to provide top-notch medical care for our warriors, their families, and our retirees."
