Silence Hurts
MOODY AIR FORCE, Ga. – Children who are victims of sexual abuse usually develop low self-esteem, a feeling of worthlessness, may mistrust adults and can become withdrawn or suicidal, according to the American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times a year, but the number of unreported instances is unknown because children are often afraid to tell anyone. (U.S Air Force photo illustration by Staff Sgt.
