23rd CES defines authorized debris disposal areas Published May 7, 2010 By John Crain 23rd Civil Engineer Squadron MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The 23rd Civil Engineer Squadron recently discovered unauthorized dumping of trash along Eismann Road, the path that leads to the Grand Bay Bombing and Gunnery Range. Unknown sources illegally deposited shingles, rubble, crutches, fitness equipment, refuse and yard debris along the road. The only approved locations for these types of trash are the Moody Recycling Center and the 23rd CES fire-pit area. Trash and recyclable items generated on Moody can be hauled to the Recycling Center (there are some exceptions however) during normal business hours. Contact the Recycling Center at (229) 257-1993 for questions on what kind of materials they are authorized to receive. Squadrons who are cleaning up tree and landscaping debris around their buildings can use the fire-pit area located adjacent to the 23rd CES FTX Field Training Site. While the two-acre clearing area is used for temporary landscape debris storage for the grounds maintenance contractor, 23rd CES Heavy Equipment Shop, Base Forester and quality assurance, squadrons are allowed to use the site with permission, but must contact (229) 257-1388 or (229) 560-6094 for coordination. Individuals are not authorized to use the site for personal use and contractors are also not allowed to use the facility except for the grounds maintenance contractor. Debris generated by unauthorized contractors or from off base should be hauled to an off-base facility.
