Tech. Sgt. John Miele, a 332nd Mission Support Group member, is the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing's Tuskegee Airman of the Week for May 23-29, 2010.

"The reality is Sergeant Miele works is an outstanding performer at a very high-tempo job," said Brig. Gen. Craig Franklin, 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing commander. "In the emergency communication center, he works as the offensive coordinator. He helps ensure people are where they need to be in response to emergency situations."

After congratulating the new winner in front of wing leadership, General Franklin presented Sergeant Miele with the certificate and a commander's coin at the wing headquarters June 3.

Sergeant Miele, the emergency communication center NCO in charge, saved the life of a roadside bomb blast victim by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and administering four units of blood product with a rapid infuser.

Deployed from Moody Air Force Base, Ga., he was a first responder to a Humvee rollover that pinned a soldier. Due to his quick response in extricating and treating the victim, Sergeant Miele was credited for saving the soldier's life.

"Having the opportunity to represent the base is a great honor, but everything we do is a team effort," Sergeant Miele said. "I could not have done my job without my fellow Airmen and Soldiers."

Among his accomplishments, Sergeant Miele has devoted nine hours to supporting critical contingency aeromedical staging mission in which he loaded 21 patients onto a C-17 aircraft for transport.

On his off-duty time, Sergeant Miele completed a speech class, which has put him within 9 hours of obtaining his Community College of the Air Force degree.

Sergeant Miele was nominated by his supervisor Tech. Sgt. James Maynard, 332nd Civil Engineer Squadron assistant chief of operations.

"Sergeant Miele is dedicated and determined to achieve results," said Sergeant Richardson. "He is very deserving of this award."

Airmen between the ranks of E-1 and E-5 are eligible to become the 332nd AEW Tuskegee Airman of the Week, based on accomplishments on and off duty.
