If you're looking for a way to cool down this summer or just a fun place to bring the kids, go to Moody's outdoor pool.

"The outdoor pool finally opened and it has been a while coming," said Col. Gary Henderson, 23rd Wing commander. "This is a great improvement to the base, especially during these hot summer months."

The outdoor pool is located behind building 400 and includes a large water slide, a snack bar, a kids' water play area, a zero-entry ramp into the shallow end of the pool, several lanes for lap swimming and a diving area.

"The pool was a $1.5 million project that was worked out with the community to get approved," said 2nd Lt. Justin Lowe, 23rd Force Support Squadron community services flight deputy chief. "It was great to see everyone come together and work on getting this accomplished for this summer."

Pool passes are on sale for $30 for the first pass and $20 for each additional pass. For Airman who hold the rank E-4 and below, it's $20 for the first pass and $15 for each additional pass. A one-day pass is also available for $2 with a Department of Defense ID card and $3 for a guest. Lap swimming is free.

Pool parties cost $125 for up to 75 people and $150 for 76 to 150 people. The pool passes and party reservations are sold at the outdoor pool, which is open through Labor Day or later if weather is permitting.

From now through August 8, the hours of operation are daily from noon to 7 p.m. Lap swimming is open from 5:30 to 8 a.m., 10 a.m. to noon and 5:30 to 7 p.m. For updates and times, visit the website at moodyfss.com.

"The year of the Air Force family is coming to an end and Moody wanted to do something for its Airmen," said Colonel Henderson. "This is a great improvement for the morale of our Airmen. Now we can look forward to many hot summers with our new outdoor pool."
