Thomas Merl led the 23rd Logistics Readiness Squadron with a total of 19 points to clinch the intramural volleyball championship title during the July 28 game.

This is the third time LRS and 23rd Equipment Maintenance Squadron munitions flight met in Moody's volleyball championship.

Ammo lost the first match which sent them to the loser's brackets--giving them another chance to redeem themselves. Being as the tournament is double elimination, this gave the two teams a chance to settle the score and crown the champions.

LRS struggled during the first match of the final game. After tossing the lead back and forth, Ammo's Brandon Tate scored two points to win the first match 27 to 25.

In the second match, Ammo immediately took the lead. LRS temporarily came back to send the lead back and forth between the teams. Ammo started to pull ahead bringing their lead to 11 to 6, but LRS wasn't giving up. Thomas Watson brought a hault to Ammo's streak to help close the gap, tying it at 12. The scoring continued until LRS snagged the lead, winning the second match 25 to 23.

After a rally in the third match, Ammo lead by four points. LRS surprised the crowd by scoring to tie it at eight. The teams traded the lead, until LRS was ahead 14 to 12. One point now stood between them and victory.

It was LRS's serve for what could be the winning point. The ball went from side to side-- everyone waiting for the final outcome-- until Ammo's Gregory Minette spiked it to bring them within one point of each other. LRS still had a chance to win if they can hold off Ammo.

Ammo served the ball. Feet drummed throughout the stairs waiting for match point. Thomas Watson scored the final point to end the game.
