Healthy recipes: Autumn spiced nuts Published Aug. 30, 2010 By Kayla Scherf Health and Wellness Center dietician MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- (Editor's note: The Health and Wellness center dietician will provide a series of seasonal recipes for each month. September's recipes are based on pecans.) Ingredients: 1/2 cup pecan halves 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice 1 teaspoon butter How to make it: 1. Toss pecans with sugar and spice; set aside. 2. Melt butter in medium skillet on medium heat. Add pecans; cook and stir 5 to 7 minutes or until lightly toasted. 3. Spread onto a sheet of wax paper and let cool completely. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature. Preparation time: 5 minutes Total time: 15 minutes Makes: 2 1/4-cup servings
