Moody's intramural soccer team moves into the season with a 3-3 record, looking to turn the season around with a win versus Valdosta State University Oct. 6.

The two teams met earlier this year ending in a loss of 6-1 for Moody's team, but Coach Timothy Fry is confident they can turn things around this time.

"The first match against VSU was a great learning experience for the team because it showed us what we need to work and where our weak points are," said Coach Fry. "This time around, we have the people and the knowledge to win this match."

The team has been practicing and holding scrimmages against their different squads to prepare for their upcoming matches but each practice or game costs the team money to pay for a trained referee.

VSU is not the only team that they will compete against. They will also travel to matches in the surrounding areas to play local leagues to include Thomasville.

"We are always looking for support from the base to cheer at the games or come out to our practices on the soccer field," said Coach Fry. "We get the word out by posting upcoming games at the Freedom I Fitness Center and disseminating e-mails to various groups on base."

The team will be playing at the VSU soccer fields off of Ashley at 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 6 and at Thomasville on Oct. 9 at 10:00 a.m.
