With everything that happened last week from deploying a squadron, hosting the secretary of the Air Force, to supporting the 9th Air Force outstanding performers of the year, everyone on base did an outstanding job and performed flawlessly to accommodate these guests and events.

These were the words from Col. Gary Henderson, 23rd Wing commander as he expressed his gratitude for all the hard work and dedication that the men and women of Moody put into making OPY a success.

Nominees experienced all that Moody and the local community had to offer during the week of OPY. They did everything from watch a 820th Base Defense Group demonstration during urban assault training at the military operations in urban terrain training village to spending a relaxing night at a local cabin supported by members of the local community.

"When Moody had the chance to host OPY I jumped on the Opportunity because I always want people to have the chance to visit the base and see the amazing missions we accomplish here," said Colonel Henderson. "Some people think of Moody as a small, sleepy base with nothing going on, but when they get here they see the entire spectrum of operations our airmen are engaged in."

"We heard nothing but great feedback from everyone on how important and how relevant Moody is to the fight with the mission we do here," added Colonel Henderson. "We have over 1,000 people currently deployed from Moody so we like to think we are having an impact on the mission and that we are pretty relevant to the fight and that was definitely confirmed."

Colonel Henderson wanted to thank all of its members who helped make the week a success and a special congratulation to Maj. Martin Pantaze, Tech. Sgt. Jeremy Phillips and Senior Airman Alexander Hardy for their selection as 9th AF Outstanding Airmen of the Year.
