The command surgeon for Air Combat Command, Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Daniel Wyman, recently visited Moody to gain insight into the 23rd Medical Group and see the affect it has on Moody.

During his two-day visit, General Wyman explored the different capabilities of the 23rd MDG by visiting squadrons around Moody that are affected by the clinic.

"I wanted the chance to come to Moody and see firsthand how the medical group affects the base," said General Wyman. "The units affected by their capabilities include the 93rd Air Ground Operation Wing, the 347th Rescue Group and the 23rd Fighter Group."

The general spent most of his first day at the clinic visiting each section and talking with the staff and getting to know each person.

"The medical group's capabilities are amazing and they are one of the first to kick off the family health initiative," he said. "This is where a doctor, nurse and dentist are assigned to one patient, so during their time here they  know that person and will see them for their needs."

Moody is the first on the command surgeon's list of 12 medical groups that he has been able to visit outside of the Langley, Va., area as the new ACC command surgeon.

This trip to Moody is not his first. During his time as the command surgeon for Headquarters Air Force Special Operations Command, he visited Moody on a few occasions and notices a big difference since then.

"I have seen a big change in the medical group since my last visit with remodeling the building and the care they provide," said the general. "This visit is also different because this time I have Chief Master Sgt. Maurice James, chief medical enlisted force."

The two of them also sat down with the medical group and expressed the views of ACC and the commander of Air Combat Command, Gen. William Fraser III. Chief James wrapped up their tour of Moody with a meeting with the senior NCOs of the medical group.
