Not just an average survey Published March 21, 2011 By Airman 1st Class Nicholas Benroth 23rd Wing Public Affairs MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The military lifestyle is extremely busy and sometimes it is hard for leaders to know just what Airmen and their familes need. The Air Force Community Assessment is an opportunity to tell Air Force leadership exactly what those needs are, anonymously. "This survey is so important because it is the best way for us to listen to community members and then provide services to help them meet their needs and the needs of their families," said Lawanna Barron, Family Advocacy outreach manager. "It allows them to express their opinions anonymously so participants can respond openly and honestly to issues that affect them every day." The deadline for this survey is April 3 and any selected military members and spouses are encouraged to take the time to share their thoughts and concerns because the results have a direct impact on the programs Airmen and their families use every day. "This survey helps us measure how much families are taking advantage of the programs at the health and wellness center," said Ann Lukens, school liaison officer. "Issues that require the creation of programs will identify issues that deal with Air Force life." Military members received notification for participation via email and spouses received through postcards in the mail. The inclusion of spouse involvement is an important aspect of the survey results since spouses are directly impacted or involved in many base programs. The survey will measure community satisfaction, personnel preparedness, family adaptation, health and well-being, spiritual well-being, economic well-being and safety. In addition, the assessment participates are invited to answer supplemental questions about risk behaviors. The assessment is designed to assist chaplains and people working in installation-level Airman and Family Readiness Centers, family advocacy programs, health and wellness centers, mental health clinics and child and youth programs to better meet the needs of service members and their families. This survey can only help leadership at all levels and help local agencies know how they can be of assistance.
